A career spanning 35 years dealing with matters throughout the UK and Europe; 
Originally an apprentice engineer, following the convention of the time, which involved multiple disciplines of design, production, maintenance, product and causation failure, within the areas of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, steam and pneumatic systems, thermal damage and fire engineering risk reduction by design. 
Post apprenticeship, spending a number of years within the automotive and transport sectors, and the plant, machinery and agricultural sectors. Several years involved in the design and compliance of Liquid Petroleum Gas (Propane) conversions for various engine and vehicle applications.
Prior to commencing practicing as an expert, spending a number of years as a College and University lecturer and course tutor, within the subject areas of engineering, transport studies, and law, to master’s level (lecturing on the role of the Expert Witness). During this time, completing a Cert. Ed, and Law degree, and post graduate qualifications in Forensic Engineering.
Practicing Expert Witness; First registered with the Law Society “Directory of Expert Witnesses” in 2001 (since 2004, the Directory of Expert Witnesses has been published by Thomson Reuters; listed in the 2017 & final editions). 

Expertise       

Vehicles, Plant and Machinery, Fire and Explosions. Defective design and product failure, vehicle operation, road traffic collision, personal injury and fatality, unroadworthy vehicles and damage consistency. Matters involving unsuitability of design (for the application) and involving satisfactory quality for the intended purpose required (area of specific interest).

Experienced in Civil; both Claimant & Defendant, Criminal; both Prosecution & Defence, acting on both Single and Joint Expert basis, and giving evidence in the capacity of an expert witness in County Court and High Court cases.

Sheena Parry - 
Complex Case Investigator and Advocate
A career spanning 35 years, dealing with the challenge’s others may gloss over; oversight, insight, compliance, quality, risk, liability investigation and advocacy is my specialism. Former Police Sergeant/Acting Inspector trained and accomplished interviewer, and Authorised Vehicle Examiner with West Midlands Police. 

Investigations within the field of Civil & Criminal matters. Contract, sale of goods, rejection, negligence, product failure, causation, road traffic accident, death, personal injury, vehicle and/or component operation/construction, unroadworthy vehicles, product design and manufacture defect, negligent maintenance, agricultural, plant and equipment, and fire damage (thermal event).

In a role which is complementary to the forensic engineering practice, I take instructions from insurers and several major dealer groups to carry out claim validity and liability investigations, on their behalf, in relation to customer complaints and allegations of gross misconduct, bad practice, negligence and fraud, including interviews/statement preparation. 

Finally, holding a Master’s Degree in Law, and having successfully completed the Bar Vocational qualification at Nottingham University (The Barrister qualification), I also take instructions from Law firms, dealer groups and insurance companies representing their clients in case management, small claims and tribunal hearings.

Tom Dalton -

Metallurgist & Expert Witness


Employed as a metallurgist since 1977, specialising in the investigation of metal failures for over 35 years. Graduated from Manchester Polytechnic in 1988 with a master’s degree in metallurgy and became a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council in 1989, and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in 2007.

Initially gained experience in the manufacture of tool steel products before progressing into the manufacture of Ni-base superalloys where he worked with Rolls-Royce on the research of superalloy single crystal turbine blades. Joined National Vulcan Engineering in 1991, becoming Laboratory Manager in 1998, and subsequently establishing and becoming a director of RCA Laboratories Limited in 2006. 


Has made presentations at various national and international conferences and provided training courses for plant engineers, engineer surveyors, and loss adjusters. Also provided independent consultancy on multiple nuclear safety cases on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive. Detailed failure analysis reports have been prepared for a broad range of industries to assist plant owners/operators, manufacturers, insurers, loss adjusters, and legal professionals in understanding the root cause of metal failures. In recent years has acted almost exclusively as an expert witness and has currently investigated more than 1,600 failed metal components.
